What is the Classic Millionaire’s Shortbread?
Why change the Classic Millionaire’s Shortbread. The familiar layers of buttery shortbread, smooth caramel and rich dark chocolate. It’s all very well to change the flavour but, as far as I’m concerned, it will always be an addition to the classic one, not a replacement.
Firstly, the base is a generous block of our buttery shortbread. Then we have the smooth, creamy, sweet caramel. The finish is the rich dark chocolate topping that offsets the sweetness of the caramel.
If, like me, you love Millionaire’s Shortbread, you’ll love this.
My favourite bake
I vaguely remember my mam making this for the first time, back in the 1970s. No doubt it was a recipe from her Be-Ro book. All I know is that it was a revelation. Nothing had tasted this good. We were already used to her shortbread and the addition of caramel and chocolate was incredible.
Ever since then, Millionaire’s Shortbread has been my favourite bake. If I visit a new tea shop, I make a point of trying their version of this classic bake. This is closely followed by a critique and comparison to others.
I think that my version of Millionaire’s Shortbread is the best of course. Now I compare everyone else’s to mine.
